Frequently Asked Questions

Ticketing & Performances
Under our standard terms and conditions, tickets are generally non-refundable. However, exchanges may be possible for a fee if requested at least 48 hours prior to the performance date. Please contact the Box Office immediately if you need assistance.
In the unlikely event of a cancellation, you will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to transfer your ticket to a rescheduled date or different performance, subject to availability. We will notify all ticket holders via email and update our social media channels.
There is no formal dress code. We encourage patrons to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable. Most people opt for smart casual attire.
Classes & Training
Absolutely not! We offer a range of 'Beginner' and 'Open Level' classes that are perfect for those with little to no experience. We recommend starting with an Open Ballet or Contemporary class to get a feel for the studio environment.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of movement, such as athletic wear, leggings, or loose shorts. For footwear, most classes are done barefoot or in socks, but check the class description for specifics (e.g., tap shoes for Tap classes).
Class passes allow you to purchase multiple classes at a discounted rate, with an expiration period (e.g., 10-class pass valid for 3 months). Memberships provide unlimited access to public classes on a monthly direct debit basis.
Access & Location
Our studios are located at Pier 4/5, Hickson Road, within the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, Sydney NSW 2000. It is easily accessible by ferry, bus, or a short walk from Circular Quay or Wynyard Station. See our Contact page for detailed directions.
Yes, Sydney Dance Company is committed to accessibility. The entire Wharf 4/5 venue, including performance spaces, studios, and amenities, is wheelchair accessible via lifts and ramps. Please contact the Box Office in advance if you require specific seating assistance.
General Information
Auditions for the main company are generally held on an as-needed basis, but occasionally open calls are announced. We highly recommend international dancers to participate in our Pre-Professional Year (PPY) or attend our Public Classes to familiarize themselves with the company's style. Keep an eye on the About page for career updates.
Yes, Sydney Dance Company is a registered not-for-profit company. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible in Australia. Your support is vital for our artistic and educational endeavors.
